emYOU! participated in Eastern Michigan University's annual Relay For Life event this past weekend. Over 50 teams helped raise the most amount of money in the event's history at EMU. The total is currently over $39,000, and donations will be accepted through August. All of the proceeds from the event go to the American Cancer Society to fund research, development and educational programs aimed at finding a cure for cancer.
The event brought together a diverse group of student organizations and community members. Each team hosted a creative on-site fundraiser. The Student Occupational Therapy Association facilitated wheel chair races around the Relay track. There was also paddle boat rides on the University lake. Entertainment at the event included music from 96.3 The River, local bands, ice sculptures and more.
emYOU! team members were happy to help out and show their support for such a great cause. It was sure cold, but not as cold as the Ford Lake Frozen Leap!
