Goodbye Cady's...

It was announced this weekend that Depot Town's, Cady's Grill has closed. Fear not though, they plan on opening a BBQ style restaurant with lower prices and apparently a more casual environment within the next 60 days.

While the food at Cady's was great, it was a little on the costly end and for most EMU students, out of their price range or reserved for "special occasions". They did however, offer a really cool fundraising program that we took advantage of a couple times over this past summer to raise some money for local charities. Basically, you could pick a night/day and they would donate 20% of a group's total bill to the charity or fundraiser of your choice. I hope with their new venture they continue the same community outreach and involvement.

As noted in the Mlive article, the new BBQ themed restaurant is to be called Wild Willy's. If anyone from the French family is paying attention, please reconsider! Alliteration is great and all, but maybe do a little more creative thinking for a name. If they plan to continue using the Frog Island BBQ sauce, why not play on that a bit? Just off the top of my head, I've got: Cross St. Station/Saloon (bring back a local legend), Riverside Roost, The Smeet. I just did a quick check, all websites available...

Anyhow, what do you think? Got any great names or memorable stories of Cady's?
